PD208-1: AutoCAD P&ID Customization: Everything From Tags and Annotations to Symbols
Wednesday, December 2, 2009 10:00am – 11:30am PST
Banyan F @ Mandalay Bay Hotel, Las Vegas
Class Type: 90-Minute Class Primary Track: Plant Design
AutoCAD P&ID is gaining popularity quite rapidly. Every company has their own ways of creating P&IDs; with custom symbols, different ways of tagging and different data they want to display in the drawings, etc. And there are lot of things that you can do to get the best out the software; customizations that can make things very easy to you and make the software do what you want it to do for you. The key areas that I will be touching are mentioned below.
You will learn how to customize AutoCAD P&ID; to create and use custom symbols, define and utilize custom tag formats that inherit properties from different sources. Learn about property acquisition to propagate property values from one asset to another and define new rules for acquisition.
This will be an interactive class with most of the time spent on the AutoCAD P&ID software itself. I will be using a lot of examples to show how annotations can be formatted and placed inside custom blocks which are dynamically resized when the length of the text changes.
This class will require some knowledge of Plant industry and P&ID. Basic concepts of how to use AutoCAD P&ID will not be covered. There are few other classes and Labs on AutoCAD P&ID and other Plant Solutions product at AU 2009 and all the details can be found on AU site.
See you at Las Vegas.
